Al Sarno, 93 of Las Vegas passed away 8/16/18. He was born 7/30/18, to Al Sarno Sr. and Mary (Torto) Sarno in Toledo, OH.
Al served in the US Navy during WWII, Motor Machinist's Mate, Second Class, on USS LST 3 and USS LST 32. After his service, he owned and operated a Mobil Gas Station. He also worked as a custom cabinet maker in Toledo, OH before moving to Las Vegas, where he worked for the Clark County School District, foreman of their carpenter shop.
Al was an avid soccer player, played semi- pro in the mid west leagues prior to moving to Las Vegas. In 1967, Al founded the Darts Soccer Club, locally known as a Soccer Powerhouse, the Darts were the team to beat into the early 80's, winning numerous championships. Al also played senior softball and was a member of the 1999 & 2000 World Championships. He was a devoted Husband and father. Al is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Katherine, and son, Thomas ( Catherine) and numerous family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10:00a.m., at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV, 890085.
